Box Tops for Education

Participation and Rewards: if a student brings in 25 per month they get to attend the ice cream social in the cafeteria at the end of each month.

Chick-fil-A Spirit Nights

Hay Primary has one Spirit Night a month with Chick-fil-A at Erskine Commons. Fifteen percent of the proceeds go back to Hay and the class with the most in attendance for the Quarter receives a class party with the Chick-fil-A Cow! This is an easy night of no cooking, supporting the school, and connecting with other Hay families.

Choir

Every year at Hay the fourth graders are given the opportunity to join an after-school choir. There are two concerts given each school year: a winter and spring concert. In addition to the fourth grade choir numbering 46 students, all first, second, and third grade students are involved in the winter concert.

Field Day

Field Day is held outside and occurs near the end of the school year. It is complete with a bounce house, obstacle courses, field relays, a dance party, and hotdogs for lunch.

Fun Fair

This is a time to enjoy classmates and have some fun! Student’s purchase tickets, play games and are rewarded Funny Money that can be redeemed for prizes. Activities include a bounce house, cake walk, frog jump, and jail and balloon creations. There is usually at least one student who walks away with a new bike!

Halloween Party

Students get to dress up and show off their costumes. There is a haunted stage, games to play and lots of candy shared. The night wraps up with a costume parade through the gym.

Ice Cream Social

We encourage our students to collect Box Tops for Education. When a student brings in 25 box tops each month, we have an ice cream social for those students. It is held in the cafeteria and we provide the ice cream treat as a reward.

Popcorn Friday

Students receive a bag of popcorn once a month in celebration of their hard work. The popcorn is free to students and is funded by the PTO. It is popped by volunteers and is a great opportunity to meet other Hay parents and grandparents while connecting with the school!

Sing Around the Tree

Before Winter Break the students gather in the auditorium for caroling and candy canes. The event ends with a visit from Santa.

Student Council

The Hay Primary Center Student Council consists of third and fourth graders. These students meet once a month and represent concerns from their classes as well as providing several services for the school. Representatives make sure all recycling bins are emptied and collect tab tops for the local Ronald McDonald House. The Council sponsors spirit days, helps the PTO with the annual Thanksgiving food drive and is available when their hands are needed. All members know they have a responsibility to represent their school, neighborhood, and home respectfully.
